Dr. Craig R. Williams, DDS

Dentist

Dr. Craig grew up in Hamilton with his parents and younger sister. His father, John Royal, was a dentist at 575 Upper James Street in a building he owned. JR was ahead of his time in preventive care, understanding what was required for good oral health.

The family moved to Florida for Dr. Craig’s last year of high school where he attended St. Pete Junior College. It was recommended to him by the dean of Gainesville to return back to Canada if he wished to enter dental school because at that time, Gainesville was not accepting Canadians. JR moved the family back to Ontario and set up a practice in Mississauga so that Dr. Craig could apply to University of Toronto. JR taught part time at the Dental Faculty at UofT. The dental faculty made a point to prove there was no favoritism; ensuring true dental knowledge and not legacy connections. It was therefore more challenging to earn a position.

It was during dental school that Dr. Craig met Helen Pervitin. Upon dental school graduation in 1980, Dr. Craig found an opportunity in Barrie to set up practice with help from his uncle, Arthur Gee, who was the District Manager of Denco, one of the largest dental supply companies at the time. Arthur helped find the location at 11 Ferris Lane where the dental practice first started; many of his business associates aided in that endeavor. Dr. Craig married Dr. Helen Pervitin in September of 1980 and joined him in dental practice at that time. She worked at the HRC Huronia Regional Center while the practice gained momentum.

While in high school, Dr. Craig enjoyed not only sports like football but art programs. This enjoyment has allowed Dr. Craig to express himself in not only cosmetic dentistry, but in surgical procedures; from doing periodontal surgery to placing implants in high aesthetic zones. On a daily basis, Dr. Craig completes wax ups to improve the appearance of our aesthetic restorations. He does his own denture set ups in part because the labs are losing the skill to provide such personalized service, but also when it comes time to insert or try-ins; Dr. Craig finds it truly heartwarming to see the smile on his patients, not only on their lips but in their eyes.

At Dentistry for Adults & Children, Dr. Craig believes that true dental care goes beyond procedures – it’s about nurturing lifelong relationships built on love, kindness, gentleness, and respect. The practice is rooted in faithfulness to each patient’s well-being, offering thoughtful, long-term solutions guided by patience and professional integrity. Dr. Craig serves with joy, seeks to bring peace into every appointment, and operate with intentional honour, always putting the needs of each patient first. In all he does, Dr. Craig strives to reflect the goodness that comes from genuine, Spirit-led care.
